PARROT
TREE PLANTATION
Corporate
Offices Relocated
We brought 2004 to a close by moving all of our corporate
offices to Parrot
Tree Plantation. We find that it’s much more
efficient with everyone in the same office, and imagine
having that beautiful view of swaying palms and turquoise-blue
First Bight just steps away from your desk.
Beachfront
Condos From $219,900 – Roatan’s Best
Investment!
In November, we began construction on our new Parrot
Tree Beachfront Condos, 48 units located on the best
piece of real estate in Parrot Tree, overlooking the
lagoon and 2,000 feet of white sandy beach.
These
fully-furnished one bedroom condos will be operated
as hotel condominiums. When not occupied by owners,
they can be rented out and generating rental income.
Quality construction and a prime location equal capital
appreciation. With Roatan’s real estate market
today, this is the island’s best investment.
To
give you an idea of the quality we’re giving purchasers,
our goal is a five-star hotel when Phase Two of the
hotel project is completed. There are two floor plans
to choose from, and only the finest materials will do!
Thoughtfully designed and beautifully detailed, these
units include a select line of Tommy Bahama furnishings
by Lexington.
Marina
Villas – Completion of Phase One
In January, work commenced on the completion, in every
detail, of Phase One of the Parrot Tree Marina Villa
project (29 condos). This includes paving and lighting
of the promenade, landscaping, and the finishing of
our retail spaces which will be available for lease
or sale mid-2005, in time to get established for the
next cruise ship season. Reserve your space early by
contacting us at philip@roatanliving.com.
Road
paving in other parts of the project will continue at
an accelerated pace.
COMMUNICATION UPGRADES
& NEW PHONE NUMBERS
High speed DSL Internet installations are now available
in many locations around the island, offering tourists
more convenient choices for internet access, and providing
expanded and improved services to residents.
Hondutel
and Telefonos de Honduras are installing new fiber optic
communication services throughout the island and as
a result, most of our telephone numbers are changing.
Presently, you can reach us at 011 504 455 7354 while
Hondutel is working on the lines. We appreciate your
patience while we’re in transition. If for some
reason you can’t reach us by phone, send us an
email at jedwards@globalnet.hn and we’ll respond
promptly.

ARTISTRY IN THE LANDSCAPE
Meet
Helen Murphy
Thanks to the work of our resident landscaper, Helen
Murphy, visitors to the Mayan Princess are enchanted
by the extensive gardens that grace the pool and delight
the eye throughout the property.
After
less than a year under the guidance of her experienced
hands, an exotic palette of soft, lush foliage, breathtaking
flowers and truly unusual plants has emerged. Unmistakably
tropical, various palm species dot the landscape, providing
humidity and shade for a diverse assortment that includes
hibiscus, gingers, terrestrial orchids, iris and striking
ornamental bananas.
Several
varieties of heliconia, some with dramatic hanging blooms,
highlight walkways and lead to stepping stones across
the pool. Unique combinations of color and texture are
tucked into nooks and crannies between artfully arranged
rocks, freeform hills and valleys. Strolling along the
paths from the beach or road, or seen from in the pool
or out, Helen’s spectacular creation is a treat
for the senses.
Before
heading to Central America, Helen gained considerable
experience in downtown Manhattan where her flower design
and landscape business in Trump Tower catered to Bloomingdale’s,
Hermes and top name clients like Ralph Lauren and Donald
Trump.
A
native of Brooklyn, Helen has lived in Honduras since
1986, first on Guanaja, then Roatan for a brief stay,
and on to Cayos Cochinos and eventually La Ceiba, on
the Honduran mainland where she opened her nursery.
Last year, at John Edward’s request, Helen returned
to Roatan and the island lifestyle she loves.
If
you’re visiting the Mayan Princess, you may find
her hidden behind a thick screen of plants, secateurs
at the ready, or sharing her vast knowledge of tropicals
with curious guests. Stop by and introduce yourself,
and if you have any questions, Helen is your gal…she
loves to talk about plants.
